Happy happy, joy joy!
Two people I love very much got WONDERFUL news yesterday, and they both deserve it so much!
First I found out that my niece (and namesake, and you bet I'm proud of that) landed a job in her field! She graduated from college last year with all the credentials she needed, but the economy being what it is, finding a job wasn't coming easy. She's been working a job in a related field but it's not what she worked and studied for, not what she's wanted to do since she was a little kid.
After sending out a ton of resumes, she got a call from a prospective employer last week. They called her again a few days later, and then yesterday they sealed the deal. She's already got the key to her new workspace. She ended up getting a better job than she'd even hoped for, and I am SO PROUD OF HER!!!!
Also, my sister has been shopping around to buy a place. She's a renter and found out about a year ago that her whole complex has been sold and the new owners plan to tear it down and build "luxury" units. She was already thinking of buying her own place anyway, and that tipped her over. She's had a couple of disappointments -- offers that weren't accepted -- but day before yesterday she put in an offer on a place she liked, and this morning her realtor called to tell her it's been accepted!!
So now she and I are talking about movers and carpet vs. laminate and all of that. She's had a tough last few years, but she's strong and this is going to be GREAT!!!
