This is amazing!
Saw my daughter today. It was parent - teacher conference afternoon at the high school from which she graduated last June and which my son currently attends. Her boyfriend had to be in town for an orthodontist appointment (he just had braces removed a couple of months ago) so we agreed to meet at the school.
Her stitches were removed shortly before they came down here, so the injury now looks like an innocuous little booboo instead of that dramatic spikey thing in the photograph. Such a relief! We spent an hour or so chatting, she had the opportunity to see some friends, and a couple of her favorite teachers, then we went our separate ways. Good news -- they will be here for brunch on Saturday, and will spend more than an hour... like all day!! I'm happy. Her 19th birthday is Friday, so it will be a celebration.
Today was a good day :D
A mother's worst nightmare. Your child is injured and you're not there
to save the day. A few days ago, my daughter presented a speech in her
communications class. On the way back to her desk, she tripped over a
chair (she was probably walking very fast, as she usually does) fell
and smashed her face on a desk. The result was a deep gash in the
crease between her chin and lower lip. Perfectly placed to avoid an
ugly scar, I might add (what excellent planning)
She zoomed to the clinic on-campus, the nurses/doctors there were afraid they would have to send her to the emergency room of the local hospital if the wound had gone all the way through. It didn't, they stitched it (3 stitches) and she is back to her usual pragmatic self. She said the worst part was doing this in front of a whole classroom full of people she hardly knows. Humiliation on top of injury.
And now for the reason for the warning... a picture of said injury
